Dog Policy

The McKays Hotel, Bar & Restaurant in Pitlochry are a dog-friendly team that know you want your best friend to enjoy their stay too. So, we’ve made it easy for your dog to enjoy their stay, with all the home comforts: a dog bed and water bowl (on request) and their own welcome pack. We promised you more than a room.


With many walks straight from the door of McKays Hotel – there’s no need for the car to take your dog for their morning and evening strolls. There are beautiful views, woodland and loch side walks – all to be explored together.


Dogs are welcome to dine with you in our dog friendly restaurant too, so you can rest assured, you and your beloved pet will both be catered for.


A £20.00 per dog or £30 per two dogs per night fee is charged for your pet to stay in any of our dog friendly rooms. Maximum of 2 dogs per room. However, as the pet owner and registered guest, you will also be responsible for any additional cost for deep cleaning, repair and replacement of damaged facilities caused by your pet. You further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the J & R Group Ltd, its owners and its operators from all liability and damage suffered as a result of your pet.



What you will get: dog bed and water bowl. Welcome pack including treats, a toys and importantly a few poo bags to keep our hotel and the town of Pitlochry clean.

Dogs must be fully trained and appropriately restrained by guests with a leash in the public areas except in the guest’s room. Pets must not be left unattended in your bedroom or any areas of the hotel.

Dogs are welcome in the bar and restaurant areas.

Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet in the hotel and in the surrounding area. Any disturbances such as barking must be curtailed to ensure other guests are not inconvenienced.



Guests must contact the housekeeping department to arrange a convenient time for servicing their room. Guests are responsible for all property damages and/or personal injuries resulting from their pet and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the hotel, its owners and its operator from all liability and damage suffered as a result of the guest’s pet.



The hotel reserves the right to charge the guest’s account commensurate to the cost of such damages. The hotel reserves the right to evict the guest and pets from the hotel premises if and whenever required with no prior notification. Service animals accompanying persons with disabilities are always accepted.



We wish you all a happy stay and please contact reception with any queries. Please do not leave your pet unattended. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet in the hotel or in the neighbourhood. We reserve the right to require immediate removal of any pet that displays inappropriate behaviour including, but not limited to, excessive barking, biting, and evidence of disease. You will be responsible for all charges relating to the removal of your pet including transportation and kennel charges.
